Frost & Sullivan, 2018
Frost & Sullivan has just published an executive summary about biomarkers for the brain. Our CEO, Dr. Laurent Hermoye, has been involved as an expert. The diagnosis and the treatment of brain disorders is still particularly challenging. The integrative approach combines imaging biomarkers with cognitive, electrophysiological, biological, and genetic ones. New analysis methods, made possible by the progress of artificial intelligence, pave the way for better outcomes. It will foster both the discovery of new drugs and the personalized follow-up of patients.

An unknown species was referred to Imagilys for radiological examination. Anatomical MRI revealed a conic shape, with prickly edges. On some branches, abnormalities of gyration were observed. Constrained spherical deconvolution (CSD)-based tractography, as displayed in BrainMagix, revealed long, symmetrical, associative pathways. Potential degeneration of the fiber bundles should be monitored within the next 2 weeks.

March 1-5, 2017
Vienna, Austria
Our CEO, Dr. Laurent Hermoye, has been invited to moderate scientific session The ageing brain: cognition and dementia, at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna. The mystery of healthy brain ageing is still unsolved, and some senior citizens are affected by devastating diseases. We will review the contribution of advanced brain imaging techniques to the understanding of preserved cognition, and to the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease, and other types of dementia. Join us on March 4, from 10:30 to 12:00, in Room E2.

Last week, at Liege University's Coma Science Group, we scanned the brain of Guillaume Néry, world champion of freediving. By holding their breath for more than 6 minutes, freedivers challenge the limits of human physiology, in order to descend into the ocean's depths. However, after 20 years of intense freediving, Guillaume's MRI, visualized in our neuroimaging software suite BrainMagix, revealed no structural abnormalities.
